LS/Vtecs and Strokers....
I keep reading post about how LS/Vtec's and stroker engine are a bad idea. Peoples reason to this is they both have a bad R/S ratio. I ran across this article from Turbo magazine, http://www.turbomagazine.com/tech/0112tur_stroker. I see that a stock GSR has a R/s ratio of 1.58, I think this is correct. In this article they talk about Long rod's VS. Short rod's. they built a B18A with a 25MM deck extension, and used Crowers 95MM crank. With the longer rod not only did they make a stroker but it has a R/S ratio of 1.63. Thats better then a stock GSR. I am considering building this same engine for my car. Anyone with some thoughts about this?

Alot goes into building a stroker engine with a deck plate (deck extension). It will require quite a bit of testing for clearances and claying the engine. A friend of mine had an LS/VTEC bored to 85mm with a custom crankshaft made by Jake's Racing. Lets say the motor was about a 2.4L and had a 3" deck plate. its not a motor to be built by an amateur, as it requires alot of maintainance and block reinforcement. More than likely you will need a closed deck setup like the Dart block.
