got a stupid question but worth the money i guess. I got 30k miles on my civic and thinking about doing an brake job. Dealer is charing $159.99 for doing a brake job, that includes new brake pads and resurfacing the rotors. Now i was thinking to do this job by doing at home. if i replace the new rotors and new pads, it comes out to be the same price. Is it worth using the cheap rotors or not ? let me know what u think about this scenario.

I think this is the best place to search isnt it ? I mean i know places like autozon, pepboys sells rotors for this perticular car for around $35 each.

 

There are ofcourse differences between the manufactorers of cheper rotors, but generally they don't tend to stand up to excessive heat and pressure that you have to deal with when driving on track etc. I have cheap rotors in the back, but wouldn't recommend them on your front axel.

 

You can get some Axxis Ultimate pads for $50-$60 shipped. Take off your rotors, take them to a brake place and have them resurfaced/cut. I pay $15 to have mine cut. I install the pads myself and do all bleeding myself (if needed). $65-$75 MAX. Save the $$, do it yourself.

If your rotors are warped, just get new ones. Resurfacing just removes more mass, causing a greater likelyhood of warping in the future. Especially with upgraded pads.
