Hey guys I bought my teg with a b16a swap done to it i was curious how i would find out if i am running an ls tranny or a b16 tranny? which is better and why?

 

b16 tranny is a much, much better.... it has closer gear ratios while yields better acceleration!

 

if you run about 4200RPM at about 80 in 5th, you absolutely positively have a B16 tranny. Or 3150 at 60. same difference. LS tranny will be about 3500rpm@80

 

alright i must have the b16 right rpm's

 

around 4k going 80 in 5th will be a b16 trannie

a ls trannie will be about 3k-3.5 going 80 in 5th

more like 4.5k @80mph is a B16 tranny. a GSR tranny is 4k@80mph.

 

my LS tranny is about 3800 at 80 mph. though in not sure on how accurate my stock tach is after 14 years

wow your tach is WAY off!! that or your clutch is slipping big time!! my old LS tranny was at 3.2k @ 80mph.

this is what i was thinkin.... 60 mph is dead nuts on 3k, and 80 is like 4k

 

you guys got to remember that if this is a cable trannie there are 2 different gear ratios for a b16
there is the jdm s1 and j1 trannie which has the 4.40 final drive anf going 80mph on 5th your a hair above 4k

and theres the jdm y1 b16 trannie from a jdm crx which has bigger gears and a 4.2 final drive. this trannie will be at 3.8k going 80mph on 5th gear

and a ls trannie is about 3.2k going 80 on 5th gear
