Default Engine oil

2003 honda civic, got 22500 miles, I just did an oil change with Castrol Gtx. The place i took was a lube place, ( didnt go to the car dealer ). everytime i do an oil change i notice the difference, but this time i didnt notice it. also i have lost the manual for the car so dont know what the capicity for the engine oil ? how many qt does it require when u do an oil change ? By changing it to Synthetic, will it make a difference ? please advise

My engine takes 4 qt's, and I'm using Mobil 1 Synthetic 5w-30. The synthetic oil will run smoother and if you want to run synthetic oil you should switch ASAP.

I went from conventional to synthetic, and noticed absolutely no difference. The car did not run any "smoother". Just my experience. (With 00 Civic EX, switched at 25k miles).

FWIW, my EX typically took less than 4 quarts, usually around 3 1/2, maybe a little more.

with an engine well worn in with synthetic oil, you should be able to last 5k-8k before oil change, i heard you can go UP to 10k. but if you're with synthetic then 7 WOUld be ok...

May be i didnt clarify it properly. What i meant was that lets say once i reach at 100K miles, do i have to go back to regular oil or i can still use synthetic oil ? My car recommands 5w-20, what type of synthetic should i use ?
