please help guys.
ok heres the deal. Im a honda goober and i know nothing when it comes to eclipses and very little when it comes to car audio. Now, on the other hand my girlfriend is the proud owner of a 1998 GS with 4 blown infinity speakers. So heres where i need some help (and please dont answer tell her to take it to a professional becasue i think with your help this should be quiet easy.) ok, i bought her 4 pioneer's. here are the front ones link and here are the rear link . now here are my questions:
1. with eclipses, as you guys might know, there is one black clip that has both the positive and negative wired into it and you just hook the plug to the speakers. with the pioneers you have to wired them seperately. so what do i do? just cut that connector thing off, then crimp the wires to the speaker?
2. on the pioneer speakers one of the pieces of metal where you hook the wires is small, one is large. which is positive and which is negative. and also how do i identify the wire in the car as positive and negative is one red and one black like it usually is?
that you so much guys. this is doing my girlfriend and i a favor so anyone that helps gets free nudes of her.

that black clip is just the factory connector for the factory speakers. you can cut this and crimp, solder or whatever you want to the speakers, or if you dont want to cut them, crutchfield carries accessories like the factory plug adapter for aftermarket speakers. these allow you to use that factory plug without cutting it. on your pioneer speakers, the bigger connector is positive and the smaller one is negative. to find the polarity of the speaker wire, use a multimeter. if you dont have one you can pick one up from a radio shack for like 10 bucks. hope this helps.

thanks so much for your help that pretty much answered all of my questions. i just have one more small question then im set. both the front and back speakers came with 2 sets of wires. they hook to the terminals on 1 end then the other end is just bare wire ( where i will crimp it with the car wiring.) now in both case one is white and 1 is gray. but they look exactly the same. does it matter which one does on the left or right speaker?

it doesnt matter which wires you use. they both do the same thing, but as a reference, most aftermarket headunits use the white colored wire for the left channel and the gray one for the right channel.

hope this helps. 94
