Default High Compression Turbo with stock sleeves Question

Got in on the deal for Eagle Rods and JE Pistons from Ben. I am going 10.5:1 forced induction. I was wondering how much boost can I do with stock sleeves at that compression? Assuming I am running a t3/t04e, hondata 2b system with 550cc etc etc. If I do sleeve the block is there any cooling issues that I will encounter as opposed to stock? I have heard diferent things. I was looking into the Darton closed deck sleeves, but have not heard much about them.

do you have an ITR motor? if you do, i don't think you'll want to turbo it. especially with stock sleeves. with 10.5:1 comp. ratio, you'll run into detonation even with low boost if you don't have good fuel management (i.e. stand alone efi). if you want to turbo it safely, resleeve it with darton sleeves, and get a little lower comp. ratio piston, maybe 9.5:1.

While the Hondata is a great ECU, I don't know if it can help from detonation. You can have the best in stand alones, but w/o proper tuning, detonation will kill any engine.

Remember that detonation is the result of the air/fuel mixture igniting before the compression stroke. High CR + boost equals VERY high cylinder pressures. I wouldn't chance it, even if you have good quality pistons and rods. Either get trade for some lower CR pistons, or resleeve the cylinders, or both.

Even then with the 10.5:1 CR and resleeve block, I would tune it very carefully. Resleeved blocks still aren't bulletproof. If the sleeves don't crack, and the pistons/rods don't melt/bend, then something else in your motor will break. The key is TUNING.

when i had stock sleeves i was runing 25 lbs. boost with no problem.i did have the wastegate close once and craked all four cylinders at about 50lbs. of boost.they will survive as long as something stupid like that doesn't happen.i was lucky.it could have been so bad that the block would have had to be replaced.i had golden eagle do the sleeves for me and love them.i think they are the highest quality that i have ever seen.

with that CR you are limited to 9lbs max on the street on 94RON gas, that will bring your CR up to 12.6:1 (approx) the limit of pump gas. unless you run super rich to wash (cool) the cylinder you will detonate hard. if you want more boost get 9.5:1 at least

turboTypeR, have you had any trouble with cooling issues since you had the block done. Did you also have your block pinned or did you weld in a block guard to prevent cylinder wall movement. I am assuming that you were running 9:1 when you did 25psi...???

Rtype11, 9psi on 93 octane is what I was estimating at with an unsleeved block and 10.5:1 compression. Just want some confirmation on my thoughts.

I am aware of the theories of a built block and poor tuning. Building a block does not bulletproof it. I know a guy that ran a stock gsr motor to 12psi with no porblems. Alot of people are against high compression and turbo, but I believe that is is possible with the proper fuel and ignition timing. I think that 9psi with a 10.5:1 compression is safe with good tuning. With that compression and psi on a t3t04e should net me some really good hp.

I am going to stay with the 10.5:1 compression, I am looking to do possibly 12psi max on 104 octane and 9-10 psi on pump gas with stock sleeves. I am really considering sleeving the block, seeing that if I would like to rebuild the engine only once. I don't feel like pulling the engine a second time to resleeve it later if I need it. Also I really don't want to run into any cooling issues if I sleeve the block. I would like to keep my car daily driven. If I can save a little cash by not resleeving would be nice.

I know that tuning is the key with high compression..
Here is my projected general setup:

t3/t04e turbo (.57 trim, stage 3, .63 ar)
hondata stage 2b w 550cc injectors
spearco intercooler
JE 10.5:1 FI pistons
Eagle H beam rods
stock sleeves
stock head
Holley hp intank
9-10psi on pump gas
11-12 psi on race

any other input would be appreciated.

the car runs much cooler now.before,i had a blockgaurd and it ran a little hot,sometimes above 210.now it never goes above 180 unless it is sitting still for a very long time.i think it runs cooler than it did stock.i used the golden eagle sleeves.they have a blockgaurd built in just for stability.these are the best i have seen.and yes,i had 9:1 compression at 25 psi.
