disconnect the opposite side where the actuall shifter connects its one bolt ...when u take the motor out it way easier to take it off just turn the tranny over.... just guide it out when the motor is removed it swivels and such.

ive been using a bolt and smashing the hell out of it...ack this is frustrating.i think i'll just leave it connected. i already have it from where the shifter is. when i pull the motor tomorrow i will just let it hang behind
yo that pin is more stubborn than you could imagine!
But for a motor swap.. man.. just disconnect the OTHER end of the shift linkage!!
if the new motor comes with a new linkage then ur coo
if not, its 10times easier to get the pin out when its lying out in the open and you can just pound on it from the top with as much leverage as you need.
this is what I did, and it worked.
getting the pin back in is a pain too,
what I did to ease it, was I took a file to the edges of the pin, and rounded em down some, so it seated itself much easier.
you can TRY some pb blaster.. might help alil too.
oh and take a mental note of which way the shiftrod is aligned when installed.. cuz its tough as **** to tell which is the right way when u put it back on.
