Default B16B

I posted about the B16b and after I get this motor, I plan to take the car to get BAR tested. Now, i understand that you need a USDM wiring harness and USDM ECU. Someone said since this motor was never introduced in the US, i can't get it BAR tested. Can someone back that please? I don't wanna get the motor and not be able to BAR test it.

Test that makes your motor swap legal.

Well you can't get ur motor smogged with out a BAR exam sticker. Its basically a special smog station and they inspect everything about the motor swap to make sure it meets all smog regulations and such. Then they do the sniffer test and if you pass, they give you a sticker making your motor swap legal and then you can get your car smogged. No sticker = no smog test. The engine being the same year of the car or newer is just one of the many recquirements.

Well smog refree stations are everywhere. you can call and you can register for it (1-800-622-7733 ). If you blow your engine and need a new engine, I think thats different...not really sure about that. But basically, if you swap in a different motor other than stock, you need to get BAR tested in order to be able to smog in the future. Look up smog referee in the search..many posts should come up. This is a common topic.

-If there is any wrong information that I give out, please correct me-

well what i've known about JDM motors is that it will NOT pass smog even tho its a higher year then ur car. If its a USDM motor it will but i dont think JDM motors will pass. The only way to pass it is if u have a friend in the smog job that can pass it for you. That is how my cuzz gets his jdm b16 to pass.

If you're really worried, just find a bare GSR block and swap over all of the bottom end components. Then you'll have a B16B that reads B18C1.
