Need tech. help on 2001 honda civic ex running lean after turbo install.
Down to the nitty gritty,
I bought a turbo kit from *** imports and it came with some extra injectors that go on the throttle body along with a unit that looked like a FMU with options to control bost and a map sensor blocker. The standard stuff a turbo kit comes with( i am guessing). Anyways I had a company install the turbo kit and they said that the two extra injectors along with the extra fuel lines and the harness for it all,
was bad and sent it back to the company along with the black box(this blocks the boost from the map sensor). They told me all i needed was an FMU and something that would block boost. I bought a 10:1 FMU and the Missing link they installed it and everything was running fine except i can only give the car 1/4 or maybe 1/3 the throttle until it starts bucking like a bull and not going anywhere. They said their wasnt enough fuel getting to the injectors and i needed to get a bigger fuel pump so i bought an inline zex fuel pump. After that came and got installed the car is still running extremly lean. What other problems could their be to fix the lean problem i am haveing with the car. I was told that the two extra injectors along with the extra fuel lines and the wireing harness that was sent back would be a sure fix( i have heard this statement a couple of times now). I was also told that their is to much fuel going into the fuel rail and i would need to get a return line back to the gas tank and that would work also. I am kinda retarded in this department and would love all the help to get my car back on the street w/ the turbo.
Thank you,
KC

while I can't provide any specific information regarding your setup or problem i can advise you one thing: READ UP ON TURBO APPLICATIONS.
The worst thing you could do is throw something like a turbo kit on your car without knowing at least the basics.
Please remember that fuel manegement is the most important part about your turbo setup. If you can spare the money buy a hondata system and run that with some rc440 injectors. FMU's are fine if you plan on running 5-6psi, but I'm telling you in the long run the hondata is well worth it.

Well i am haveing it done by some people who say they know what their doing(so to speak) so i am just wondering. I am learing alot as i go. But i feel that these people are leading me in the wrong direction but i could be wrong.

too much fuel getting to the rail.... need a return line to the tank????? your car has one! sounds like that shop doesn't know what thehell they're doing. get a vafc and some 450cc injectors. your stock injectors are totally maxxed out. stay away from that shop. anyone who tells somebody to get a fmu is a retard.....
what you really need is a hondata S200B, but hte afc hack will work fine if you don't have enough for the hondata

do yourself a favor and go to http://www.howstuffworks.com (or is it howthingswork?) and look up how turbos work. That will give you a good base on how turbo charging your system works.
Also feel free to search and ask any questions here http://www.turbod16.com
They have pages on top of pages of useful information regarding SOHC turbo builds. Anything from 160whp to 450whp you can find someone that's done it there.

I hate to break your ***** but I don't think driving a turbo car and not atleast having some basic idea of how your car works is a mistake. Granted not everyone has the tools or ability to do it themselves, but when **** goes wrong I personally can not stand having to wait to take my car someplace and not knowing what could be wrong. Honestly, leave him alone and help him out.
First off, your car has a returnless fuel system. You DO need those injectors and box that they sent back. I am unfamiliar with it, but I do know that a FMU and missing link does NOT work for you.
STOP driving your car now, I repeat stop. or at least dont boost.
NOTE: that 'company' is retarded

Thanks for the links and the info about the fuel return. I am not driving my car it is still at the shop but they say they have no idea what is wrong and called the person who i bought the turbo kit for. I was only buying what they were suggesting for the car cause they said that it would work. I am haveing a hard time finding information on a D17a2 series engine or parts for that matter. I dont understand why 2001 ex civic is hard to get info on-- i have even order a manual and it hasnt come yet. I am just trying to understand the fuel thing though. I know the map sensor reads the air/fuel ratio and adjusts accordingly but the harness box that *** imports gives with the kit attaches to the ECU and has setting of how much boost and so forth you want to set (0-15) and the comes with two extra injectors which attach to the throttle body. But the only thing i am stumped on is the fuel part. Is the ecu controling all of it and why isnt their a return line for the car?? Obviously the zex fuel pump is more than enough for pressure in the line along with the FMu which i guess now was a waste of money and the missing link did work when installed. I am just trying to get my car outta the shop and its been a month since i have been in it. If anyone has any ideas where i can find out some info on my engine-that seems to be the only problem i am haveing.
THank you all for the information.
Thank you
