Im assuming you turned the distributor? Do the timing marks move at all when you are moving the dizzy?

Have to decked the block or head? Running different cam gears?

What engine setup do you have?

From what I gather, you are trying to set the iginition timing. The engine seems to be running better when the distriubutor is turned in such a manner that the timing light is showing the TDC mark on the crank pulley.

Weird - it really shouldn't run at all like that. That means it's running about 16 degrees out of spec.

Did you disable the eletronic ignition advance before trying to set your timing?

BTW - what are you calling the TDC mark? Some people are confused on this. There are 4 marks on the crank pulley. There are 3 grouped together and one that is all on it's own. The one that's by itself is the TDC mark.

I have a d15 jdm motor which is a d16z6 USA motor I believe I do know that tdc is the mark by itself but still don't get why it's running fine The only problem I have is when I'm in third or fourth gear the speedometer drops down to zero but If I drop it down into second gear it will start working again and the other thing is the ecu is not sending a message to make the vtec kick in I checked that by hooking a light up to it I know my throttle position sensor is no good Does that have something to do with it how do you think I can get the distributor to adjust to the red mark and right now the distributor is bucked towards the fire wall What do you think my problem is
