Default Nitrous experience

hey i am just thinkin about doin the cheap fix for my speed need.
does anyone have any experiences to share with me about NX vs. ZEX vs. NOS...
i know zex is cheaper, easier to install than NX, but i hear NX is an overall better system, and provides more actual power per shot.
It would be gettin put on an f23a1.

NX has the largest selenoids of the three in their kit (which means you spray longer)...ZEX has a magic box which really isn't that magic, it's just purple, and tells the selenoid to add more/less fuel...and NOS is pretty standard, good quality stuff, but nothing special...i would go with NX if it were me buying a kit...

Ive had 2 kits already, installed on 3 different cars. So I'm not new to Nitrous however what would be the benefit of spraying longer?

Not being sarcastic at all, but I would think the benefit of a larger solinoid would be to move a larger volume of Nitrous since you can only spray through the time it takes to change from gear to gear anyway.

yeah i like the zex idea because its cheaper. . . and easier to install..
but i like the NX also because i could go larger shot if i decided to easier, and its supposed to be a higher quality kit.

and those of you who had the kits. where you happy you spent 5 bills on it? was it worth it / is it worth it?

haven't personally owned a kit, but have talked to many who have, as well as helped with a couple different nitrous installs...most say that because of the short amount of time it takes for them to go through a tank, and the high prices of refills, their nitrous has costed close to that of a turbo kit total...and most would rather have a turbo kit than a nitrous kit...this is people who have had nitrous for 6 months plus...

I'm not a big fan of nitrous to begin with, but NX is definitely the best. I know several people who use it (including my brother on his boosted ITR powered EG) and from all accounts its the best. As far as refills go, I don't think $10 a refill is that much but that is assuming you don't go crazy with it

There's a couple of local places that are right around $10-$15 with the highest price I've seen locally being $30 (just outside the dragstrip). That's for a ten pound bottle.

i get my 10lb bottle filled for 25-30 bucks every month or so.

ive had my NX kit for about 3yrs now. NX larger 'noids, better quality, shots are rate at wHP not crank. the amount of time spraying really depends more on throttle position.

dry kits are good for starters but i am wet kit biased. stronger shots and are easy to upgrade if you decide to go direct port or plate(if anyone ever makes a plate system for F/H series motors). alot better for tuning as well.

it's pretty safe to run 50 shots on the F sohc mota

NOS, NX, Nitrous Express, Zex they are all good companies.

Zex is great, very easy to install and safe.
I heard NX is better but people i know with zex is pretty happy with the purple bottle.

not to mention it's cheaper than most of the rival.

play it safe, get some colder plug(zex or ngk), FPR, guage, bottle warmer along with the WET kit

OT: for 5bill, used Wet kit from ZEX gets my vote

I couldn't have said this any better myself. Thats just how it it. When you spray alot it cost $$$. I used to reserve mine for the track but even then it got expensive. 2 bottles in a night of racing, but it was lots of fun. I think thats why you hear so many people saying I had this car with this motor and it was fast, then I got this car with this motor and put nitrous on it and it was faster, then I deceided to go turbo after I blew it up on the nitrous. Now I'm even faster. LOL thats just the way most people learn.
How many people go sleeved, turbo with their first Honda??? Not many It's just a learning experience.
Nitrous is great for the $$$ but in the long run you're better off spending the money on either a Turbo or a sick N/A set up. At least then you can really spray N20.

I used a zex kit and it worked well but the jetting/ hp ratings were not nearly as accurate as the nos/nx kits I have used in past experiences with. although it was a dry kit also which was not helping.

in the past I liked the nx wet kits best (I get their stuff for a great price)... they have huge silinoids that have a very low failure rate and their ratings/ jetting are very accurate in my experince.

I agree with the statements above about turbocharging instead of n20 if you are going through it like water. I am still planning on putting on a nx kit in place of the removed zex kit (too much purple... )
