i need to pull my longblock....help
ok...first of all, i tried searching, but i couldn't find anything about pulling a longblock
i need to yank my longblock, and just that alone, the tranny i dont want to pull out, not yet @ least. is there any trick to pulling it. i think there are 7 bolts that connect the motor to the tranny, can i just pull those 7, pry the block from the tranny, and then lift out? or is there anything else i have to do?

Just pull it all.
There is what one mount on the trans? Just think of the pain of trying to realign the transmission back up. Hell it took some work getting the clutch to align with the transmission out.

wow just pull the whole swap, its so easy to switch out motors from obd0 and obd1, even when i change a clutch i debate on taking out the motor cuz i have it to an art..... lol
Yeah, i have never pulled an engine,bu ti did change a clutch on my CRX and that was hell. Everyone said..."yeah just do it in the engine bay its soo much easier"....no it isn't. I spend like 1 1/2 hours trying to line up the tranny to engine..and either way the axils have to go...from what i've heard it will all just come out so just pull it all. Also last night i read about someone going through the bottom, maybe you could try it out

SimbaDogg,
Why are you SO ADAMANT about not pulling the transmission? I mean, is it in a junkyard? If so, you will have to pull it all, and leave the transmission. I understand that you want ONLY the short block out, but why??? I am prying on you to give us the reason for not wanting the transmission out of the car. If you have to put this back in, you will be pissed that you didn't listen to us.

yeah i would pull the whole engine. When i do clutches or anything on a honda i usually pull the whole engine it only takes 3 hours if your slow to pull a honda engine out and 3 to put back in. If your fast you can do it 4 hours or slow roughly 3. The only thing that might slow you down is the shiftlinkage bolt if its stuck.
Its cake though. A lot easier than a 302 ford. IMHO.
