What class is this for? Most autocross classes wont allow many of those things to be removed.

For what? If you're just loosing weight for the hell of it, then I'd try the ITR forum. If you have a racing class in mind, most will tell you to get a rule book.

Edit: ferkin slow *** computer

He actually asked us first and got the same reasonable response till it went to whoring.

Depending on rules, etc. ditching the sun roof (as well as motor) and 'non moveable' windows for Lexan can lose about 70lbs. I believe Flex-a-lite makes direct replacement windows for the DC2. I would do this, but it's a no-no for street-mod and costs a bunch of money, to boot!

losing the sunroof is gonna be awfully hard (or easy depending on how you look at it)...

Christian, who never liked sunroofs anyway.

How silly do you want to get? There is a good thread on the Miata forum about weight reduction for SCCA Street Prepared. Some of the stuff is quite silly - guys are shaving hundreds of pounds legally off a lightweight roadster.

Once you have determined which accessories you need and don't need, take the wiring harness out, unwind it and chase out any wires that are no longer necessary.

Cut off all chassis and interior tabs for parts that you don't have to use (saved more than a few pounds on a Golf II rally tub this way).

Remove all of the undercoating, interior sound damper, and insulation.

Thin-walled Ti exhaust tubing saves a few pounds. Replace OE manifold with a light header.

There is excess material on the block, heads, intake manifold, gears, differential, and other cast or forged parts. Start trimming.

Parker Johnstone's Comptech IMSA Acura had windows that were thinner than stock - but still glass.

How serious are you? Strip it to the tub and acid dip it...

I thought this was a bad idea unless there is a tube frame underneath or the tub is seam welded. Supposedly, the acid will eat away any adhesives used to bond the unibody together. Not sure where I heard this; pretty sure it was in a HT thread a while back.

Sorry - you're right CM. Add "stitch weld chassis" to the to-do list.

Type-R's never came with roofs and if they did the roof can come out in SM due to SP update backdate.
