ok i have been going thru many ideas to bring the weight down in my 94 CX....2450 with me in it........and since i like to drag and cant run 13" with the 5x114 i opt to go back to my old 4x114 96 ITR set up....figuring also it was lighter because of the less beefier hubs etc.....
i tried finding a post on here and there were just guessing....here are you actual figures
5x114 front is 44lbs

4x114 front is 37 lbs for a lost of 7lbs

rears is where the the most came from
5x114 rears are 42-43 lbs

4x114 rears are 30lbs lost of 12-13 lbs

total lost of 38-40 lbs.....the 5 lug has light weight extended studs and powerslot rotors which are lighter the your standard rotors...
the 4x114 has standard rotors....
i was thinking i would have lost 50lbs but its still weight i dont want.....with lighter rotors the 4x114 will have even more lost weight
my reason was to get rid of drivetrain weight!!!!! hope it make a difference!!!

4 lug is overrated
i just did an hpde with only 3 lug nuts on my front wheel (snapped a wheel stud changing tires), and it held up fine all day. probably not the smartest thing, but 3 lugs properly torqued can hold a wheel on just fine. after every session i checked them, and they didn't budge once.
5 lug ... pssh

i should have jsut removed a lug from each corner onthe 5 lug then i would have lost tons of weight...LOL

This is actually interesting - Me and a friend of mine were talking about this same subject the other day.
From a braking standpoint, would you say either one of the setups has a greater advantage over the other? I understand that the 4x114 is a little less beefier than the 5 lug, but is the weight reduction worth the difference in braking power (if there is one)?

its funny that you mention that...when i had my 4x114 on b 4 the 5 x114 i always felt the 4x114 braked better for some reason, as odd as it may seem. weigh tis weight, and that is less weight to turn so i believe that yes it is worth it.
also when i put the 5 lug on car felt slightly sluggish, i dont knwo if it was because i didnt drive it for a while or the 5 lug weighted it down.
either way!!!!

Honda says you can drive it with only 2 lugs, and still be ok. Given proper torque specs.

great info..
i was wondering.. did the weight differes because of smaller rotors/calipers?
i am thinking of doing the same thing, but i was planning on using 11" rotors up front to keep my current caliper.

How did you ever pass tech inspection?
5-lug is worth the weight to me. ~50lbs at the lowest point on the car? I'll take it.
Just lose your sunroof to compensate.

If you drag race, why the hell did you buy a 5-lug?</TD></TR></TABLE>
my car is all purpose, street driven..the 5 lug had its benefits by all means, it was a deal and i took it...i want to get my times in the 1/4 down and i have the power but my weight is slowing me down.....
