Default Nitrous Oxide

Is it possible to run a nitrous system with the stock ECU without the risk of detonation? I have a 00 accord coupe with a f23 and a 5spd.

Plus, are you going wet, dry or DP?

Remember, ask any real racer, it doesn't matter if you win by a mile or an inch. Winning is winning. --- Sorry that I had to put this in here, but whenever I think of naws, I think of this movie. lol

NOS is a brand.

I have a NX wet kit (imo the best brand, but hey that's what i have) and am running a 50shot on a f23 but as of saturday that will be a 75 shot.

stock ecu, stock spark plugs, stock injectors, etc

I don't know about other brands, but NX says you can go an extra 20hp per cylinder without having to worry about anything.

but detonation will get more likely depending on a couple things. Like if you run lean (not enough fuel), you're more likely to cause problems. That's why I'm using a wet kit from Nitrous Express. Plus, when you use nitrous, you need to use premium gas.

Yes, we know that NOS is a brand.

But so is Kleenex, which people use in place of tissue. And when people want to make copies, they say Xerox. Some brand names just end up replacing the word that is meant for its purpose, even if they are using a different brand.

I'm not saying that it's okay to use NOS instead of nitrous oxide, but if someone does, no one should really flip out over it.

i've never heard of anyone having problems with 75 shot or less on the stock block (in terms of f22's and f23's)...the only modification you might want to do is get colder spark plugs as zex recomends this...

i don't like zex. I think people buy zex just because its easy to install. NX is probably the hardest to install, but I'd never done anything like it before and I figured it out just fine. Their instructions include pics and everything, and you can download them off the internet if you lose your manual.

Just my $.02, but NX > NOS > Zex

plus, who wants a purple bottle in their trunk? lol

From what I hear, Venom is the best out there these days, but NOS will always be a reliable system if you don't want to deal with a computerized system.
