Rear Tailight Amber help!
i have the 94-97 tails. i would like to do a dual filiment on the amber signals. meaning i would like to have the signal light and flash at night, not just flash alone. ie showing amber just like my front signals at night. one problem i cant just replaced bulbs, and i dont want to replace sockets...is replacing socket from 1156 to 1557 in the back the only thing i can do? or can i rewire wires?
you have to re-wire. its not the socket or bulb that causes it to not be on all the time, its the circuit. you're going to have to get out a helacious helms diagram and figure a way to splice into the front signals circuit. good luck.

ugh, do you know what you are talking about? its really easy, you do need new sockets and bulbs. the sockets does need a slight mod to fit (cut off a tab)
edit:
here is how i did it in my 3rd gen coupe
theres 5 wires back there; ground, brake, backup, signal, driving lights
1. cut off the socket for the blinker lights.
2. cut off a tab of the dual filament socket so it will fit
3. wire the lighter filament to the driving lights wire (wire that goes to the smaller lights at the sides)
4. wire the brighter filament to the signal wire
5. wire the ground wire.

i do not know if those will fit, it looks different. i used the ones from the brake lights (had extra).
edit: i dunno if having ambers on at the rear all the time is legal. mine are red so thats ok.

you spliced into the driving light circuit... which is basically what my post states.... so i kinda know what i'm talking about... half way anyways, i just kinda took a few automotive electronics classes and i own a dmm, so i think i'm king of the world now

its easy, just buy the dual filament seat and replace under the signal. Tap the higher output filament base to the turn signal and the lower output base to the parking light 12v+ on your tails. You are better off to have a switch for the low parking amber in the rear than hooking it up to the main parking lights because...
this is 100% illegal to have ambers on in the rears for parking lights. you are asking to get pulled over. and you will eventually...
ask a buddy who knows how to install radios or car alarms to do this for you, its pretty basic.
