Removing motor soon, got a question
I think you are supposed to remove the motor with the head still attached, but can you safely remove it without the head? Are there any lift points on the block to safely hoist the motor out?

I highly recommend ^ after my first engine removal from a dc2. Every time after that I have dropped it from the bottom, and pulled it out on some sort of rollable skid/dolly
Makes removing it and installing it with the transmission still intact much easier.

you can use the alternator mount bracket and the front torque mount bracket for the block, and then wherever you decide on the tranny.
Is the head already off?? If not, just pull it all at once.

There's nothing wrong with pulling it from the top, there are several appropriate mounting points, I usually back out one of the tranny bolts for one end, and then attach the other to the intake manifold. I do, however, prefer to remove the engine from the bottom. If you have access to a forklift, your life will be much easier as you can lift a pallet all the way to the oil pan.
