HELP.. need help on taking out shifter on EK!!
My car recently got in an accident and i need to take my short shifter out so i can keep it. if anyone could help me out with instructions that would be awesome, it's a 1997 Civic hatchback.
first: take out all your plastic interior that surrounds the **** boot, and take off your ****
second: jack up the car, un-bolt the shift linkage bar from the bottom of the shifter, now your shift linkage should be haning down on the ground and you should be able to move your shifter around freely
third: get a friend over and there will be two bolts that hold the shifter inplace, well actually there is a plate that holds the shifter in place and thoes two bolts hold that plate to the car.. one of you needs to be under the car and one inside (make sure you have jack stands!!) the one inside needs needle nose pliers and needs to hold the flat headed bolt and the one under the car needs a 10mm (I think) and just take them out. Now your shifter should fall out on your face (be careful) and you should be done, then just put it all back together with your stockie or just leave it alone and let your ins. company deal with it.. hah
good luck, sorry to hear about your car bro
If i left anything out, some one correct me
