Default Help diagnose clutch chatter...

I've got some sort of chattering sound coming from my clutch. It sounds almost like valves chattering, but it goes away if I press my clutch in just a little bit. It sounds like something is maybe just brushing against the flywheel??? I'm clueless. Any help appriciated

same thing happened to me, but after a few passes at the strip it mysteriously stopped. I don't recommend doing that, but I have had no problems out of mine, and that was about 3 months ago. It's probably just your throw out bearing.

Mine did the same thing when I stepped on the pedal before my clutch went out and it was the disc. The threads in the middle of it were slowly being wore by the shaft and one day it just went out I thought I blew my tranny but it was just the disc. I talked to the ACT guy at the battle and he told me they designed the clutches to do that. A guy with a 96 ex had the same problem but it was that the clutch was installed wrong and the throwout bearing.

It sounds like your input shaft bearing. I had the same problem, but I had a new clutch installed when I got my new engine. I had a new throw-out bearing installed but the sound is still there. With the clutch depressed the input shaft stops spinning so the noise from the bearing goes away. Just my.02!
