burning a piss load of oil,,, on a pretty fresh rebuild, wtf
So i put new oem bearings and chrome moly rings in my b16 this year,,, i start it up its running absolutely mint , mintest i've heard it ever run, oil is VERY CLEAN like no dark color to it at all,,,, im just wondering is it because of the breakin,,, but it looks like a smoke screen when i give it a little, its rally bad burning really bad,,,, but its not like dark blue or anythiglike that its almost white.... anyone???
ps: i used stp oil treatment like thick honey oil to coat the cylinder walls and do all the engine assembly with that thick honey oil
there is about 180 km on the motor now (drove it around lastn ight to break it in) and at first it wasn't too bad but now its burning really bad,,, i dont know wtf is wrong
im gonna take the plugs out tomorrow and check if ther is oil on them,, i hope i didn't fry my rings already ... ****
anyone helkp me, that would be great
tahnks

My motor is burning a ******* lot of oil too!! **** is pissing me off, every 3 days it burns around a quart of oil!!! I put a whole damn thing of Lucas oil, and used valvaline maxlife oil so im hoping that will eventually help it!!!
i just ran into the same problem yesterday....freshly built lsvtec cylinders 1,2,and 3 are burning the megaloads of oil its all in my exhaust now....we rehoned the block yesterday and that wasnt the problem, we changed the valve seals and it was brand new, still wasnt the problem, its making me sick, the only other thing i could think of is the piston is out of round, but im not sure....if you find out what the problem was let me know please....this is really bothering me ....if i find out i'll let you know...

Smoking after a rebuild is perfectly normal. Breaking in a motor requires that the piston rings re-seat themselves for a few hundred miles.
Using that oil treatment on the cylinders is a real bad idea. The point is to make the cylinder walls rough, so they will wear in the rings. Big no-no's on a build would be:
* Using lubricant on the cylinder walls (your current problem)
* Using new rings without re-honing the cylinders
* Honing the cylinders without following Honda's explicit directions on honing procedure
* Aligning your rings incorrectly
* Choosing the wrong size rings
* Incorrectly gapping the rings
* Using synthetic oil for break-in
All of these ideas are bad. When you do this, the piston rings won't break in correctly, and you will have shitty compression in your motor. This will also lead to blow-by, and you will burn oil and contaminate your oil much faster than normal cars.
BTW the color of your oil means absolutely nothing. Don't rely on that for information.
