Default High performance clutch questions

I had an exedy organic racing clutch in my NA DA, but now I have a 95 LS that is going turbo and she will be putting down around 420hp, so my dillema is I know the exedy will not hold tht kind of power, but I like their quality. Can you all make suggestions on clutches that can hold to or above 400hp.
Also offer prices and links to a wesite if you can. I am hoping to find a strong clutch/pp that will not be so stiff on the pedal. I dont mind it getting stiffer, but I like the stock feel too.
Thanks.

i like the act extreme set up, a little stiffer petal but not too bad. i think it does 400 horse, not sure though. if not they offer something higher. i hated the clutchmasters, so i would never recomend that terd. i think you can find ACT clutches at http://www.advancedclutch.com

You're one of the few who likes exedy, I've heard many many many bad things about those around these boards. My friend and I both have Clutchmasters Stage 1 clutch and 7.5 lb flywheel and it's been nothing but great, about 35K miles on my setup now. Of course my setup wouldn't handle 400+hp, but I would recommend Clutchmasters anyhow.

do a search, tons of people are saying exedy organic is great for a mild motor, anything over 200hp and it starts to slip

I would not take a exedy organic racing clutch above 220hp, but anything less than that and it is an excellent dependable clutch, I have put them in 3 different cars and have many many miles on them and no problems.
Perhaps the bad problems folks were having resulted in poor instalation, perhaps they did not create a proper step on the flywheel or it was not resurfaced..I am not sure, i just know myself and a lot of other people have had great fortune with them.

What motor will be running on the turbo setup? Clutches are rated by torque, not horsepower.

Im running the Act Xt/SS, It's rated to I right around 320 ft lbs of torque, im only making 253 ft lbs so It still has plenty in it, and It's very streetable.

It will be a b18b that is overbored, the torque should be around 350 or so, possible a lil higher, depending how I choose to go.

Action clutches are very good as well. I have a friend who had one of those on his 400+ whp ls/vtec set up, and it held up just fine!! Check them out http://wiredspeed.com/items.asp?cc=CLUTC&Bc=Acc

I have a clutchmasters stage 3 & aluminum flywheel on my SOHC turbo and its great. it has a dual plane pressure plate, so pedal is alot stiffer than stock, but after driving it once or twice, im totally used to it by now.

I had a brand new OEM clutch and it slipped very bad while shifting and also when full boost kicked in.

After a bit of deliberation, I think I am going to go with an RPS. They seem to be excellent clutches and really built to handle the boost. Any thoughts on them?

Exedy makes more clutches then an OE raplacement or mild organic clutch. They have plenty of clutches to hold your power, if you like them. But I would recommend clutchmasters becuase in my experience have made the best products. The only problem I've ever had with an exedy clyches is not once but twice I've had pressure plate fitment issues but other than that they are great.
