HELP!!!! need some suspension tips!!!!!!
hey all,
Im trying to do my suspension set up on my 00 LS. The thing is I want a car that can handle really well, but I also want a comfortable ride. Heres some of the options i was looking at.
-Koni Yellows with H&R sport springs or some sort of Tien spring
-Koni Yellows with round control coil overs
-KYB AGX with ground controls
-Illuminas with some sort of Tien spring or H&R sports
-Or just get the Tien basic dampener system
what do you guys think??

Tein Basic Damper - not the stiffest springs but excellent for the price

or
Tanabe Sustec Pro S-OC Type II - same as above

I would recomend these 2 coilovers to anybody. For the price you pay you get an excellent setup. You would prolly end up paying the same for just shocks and springs anyway, so why not get these? Plus they are way easier to install.

They're only easier to install if they come already assembled w/ pillow-ball upper mounts, which will make the ride harsher.
The Teins do not come w/ upper mounts, so it will be the same difficulty as installing springs and shocks.

why is it that you guys all say one of the pre setup dampener kits are better than say Koni Yellows with Ground controls or Koni Yellows with H&R sport springs? Whats better about the Tien Basic dampener than these other 2 setups?? (besides price because they are about the same +- $100)
i got illumina's and tein s.tech.. i wouldnt change a thing!! ride is comfortable... a lil stiffer then stock, but i have it on 2.. thinking of going to 3 setting in the illumina's..
I have had koni yellows paired with Tein S.tech, H&R sports, and GCs.
Teins had a really good drop. But that was the only good part about them.
H&R sports had a really good ride, near-stock like. But that was the only good part about them.
GC's had a little stiffer ride than the H&R's, but they're better than the previous two by a longshot.
Do it right the first time and get GCs/Koni yellows. Plus you can choose your spring rates and the shocks have a lifetime warranty (doesn't cover bottoming out, of course).

thanks ingrate for the good info, thats what i was looking for. Ive always heard that springs have a much better ride than coilovers, so i wasnt sure of what to do. Now how would you guys compare Ground controls and koni Yellows to the Tien Basic dampener kit??

well tein damper kit coilover system is a TRUE coilover system, it has threads on the actual shock housing instead of a threaded sleave that goes over the other aftermarket shocks.. you cant adjust the basic damper kit tho.. so what you buy is what you get, unless u change around the spring rates. people say its a good setup.. because its all in one, but some people would rather get GC's and koni's.. but it's all up to you and what you want.
but for a couple of 100 more, you could/should go for the Tein SS damper system, 15/16 levels of adjustability on the shock's.. again, a TRUE coilover system.. and alot of people are happy with this.. i've seen these as low as 900-950.. but who knows if it was a legit deal or scam. so buyer beware. i say if you're going to go with a tein coilover system, go with the SS system, you'll be glad u spend the extra couple of hundred dollars for it and have everything u want, plus be able to add that EDFC or whatever.. thing to the system so u can electronically control the dampening from inside the car.
tein makes some pretty slick ****, and all they make is suspension parts, so u know they'll be good
also you might want to consider skunk2 coilovers.. i've heard alot of people with those and say they like them, not sure, maybe some people will give there $.02 about them for you
