Installed Skunk2 Stage1's and timing is off + no gains in power
I just installed my new Skunk2 Stage1 cams (with oem sprockets) and I find that my distributor has to be adjusted almost all the way towards the firewall to get the correct timing now. Before, when using my OEM B16A2 cams, the distributor were about at the center of the adjusting holes with correct timing. - I am pretty confident that the tiiming belt is correctly installed... ANY IDEAS?
I am not sure what to expect in terms of power gains but at least -some- on an otherwise stock motor? I experience none, I'm sure...sounds like a bad investment so far...
...and, to advance timing more (for a bit more power) would cause a problem in terms of not having enough space in the adjustment holes at the distributor.
Here is a nice drawing (of the upper adjustment hole at the distributor) of the situation:
Before: Radiator (__O__) Firewall
After: Radiator (____O) Firewall
What the hell am I doing wrong?
I couldn't get a clear answer by searching so I hope someone can give me some hints here...
