i swapped in new pistons rods and rings with the engine in and the mains still bolted up.

be sure to hone the block and not let any metal shavings get on the crank; and make sure you clean the crank of all dirt and **** and get new bearings and use a lot of moly assembly lube.

Well while you're at it, just drop your crank and replace all of your bearings too. It's not a lot of work. old ones pop out, new ones go in.

to drop the crank you have to drop the tranny or at least unbolt it and move it out of the way. not a quick and easy ordeal

you have to hone the cyl walls for the new rings to seat properly. do WHATEVER u can to keep metal from fallin on the crank! like tape some plastic under the cyl or something!

Ya you can definetely do that. Just make sure that you clean up all the shavings and if you have one of those magnetic oil pan bolts, clean it and check it a few times.

Good luck
