my piston rings.........
My car has been burning oil for a while and i did a comp. test an ya one was at 80 so time to replace rings. I dont wanna pull the whole motor. But tonight i pulled the head off so im going to drop oil pan an just take the rod bolts out and push the piston up and replace rings is this a good idea? because i am more then half way there? thanks honda tech's!
i swapped in new pistons rods and rings with the engine in and the mains still bolted up.
be sure to hone the block and not let any metal shavings get on the crank; and make sure you clean the crank of all dirt and **** and get new bearings and use a lot of moly assembly lube.

to drop the crank you have to drop the tranny or at least unbolt it and move it out of the way. not a quick and easy ordeal

you have to hone the cyl walls for the new rings to seat properly. do WHATEVER u can to keep metal from fallin on the crank! like tape some plastic under the cyl or something!

Ya you can definetely do that. Just make sure that you clean up all the shavings and if you have one of those magnetic oil pan bolts, clean it and check it a few times.
Good luck
