Default F22B1 bored out

I was wondering if you could bore out a vtec 2.2 f22b1 and gain a good amount of horsepower. What is the most you can bore it and I also was wondering how hard it will be to find new pistons for it? pls help me out guys?

Sure you can bore it, any good machine shop in your area will be able to tell you the limits. The honda dealer will probably have a parts listing for oversized rings too. 94 was the 1st year of the "composite" cylinder sleeve.....born to die.

Were you referring to the H22/H23's FRM/Nikasil composite fiber type cylinder liners?

I hope not... because as far as I know Honda only used that on 87mm bore H blocks... and most if not all 85mm F blocks used an iron type liner... albiet thin and not really bore happy but no composite crap to worry about with forged pistons...

I can't remember the exact service limit ATM but I'm inclined to say .50 just off the top of my head...

and if you are looking for forged pistons, http://www.raceeng.com and http://www.importperformanceparts.net seem to have some of the better deals for off the shelf F22 pistons...although you could source them from many places if you know where to look or who to talk to... ask Kteller... he might be able to hook you up...
