Default Ls vtech or integra with no motor

Plan on buying a 92 integra ls. should I buy one without the motor and get a craight motor from like summit racing or should I just do a ls/ vtech converstion? I think it would be cheaper but not sure what I would rather do. Definally want the motor to pull but ls vtech conversion only to make around 200 HP and cost about 1700 at the most for new head, cam.... so what should I do, Somone please give me a good reason why, Thanks

Default Ls vtech or integra with no motor (Lawteg92b)

LS/vtec is cool and ****, gives alotta TQ, my cousin has one, but then the if u overheat that head (because u have to block the oil feed lines for the VTEC if u do the conversion) then yur totally screwed, plus to even make close to 200 horses u gotta get a crank, pistons, camshafts/camgears, valvetrain, ETC,(well thats wat i would get, or turbo) but if your broke go LS/VTEC, if u got the money and want a RELIABLE motor get a swap, maybe a GSR-

u could make well well over 200 hp with the stock crank, and rods for that matter.

Unplug your computer and proceed to toss it out the window please..

...it kinda depends on your mechanical skills, any slightly knowledgable mechanic can pop in a crate engine, but if you feel comfortable enough to do an LS/Vtec right, then by all means, go for it

You could order a crate engine from summit. I work there and the G-sport(Mr. Gasket for anyone who doesn't know) cost about $12,000 for the long block. But it is a very reliable 275+ horses with a 12 month 12,000mile warranty. It's a dart block with 11.5:1 compression and some other crap(don't know about the head). Realize all you get is valve cover to oil pan with no intake manifold or sensors. Very very pricey. I haven't checked the price of the Ratech crate engine though and have virtually no knowledge of what it has to offer. I may just have to do that though.
With a price like that you could build a very very fast ls-vtec and have money left over. Sounds like a much better option.
If you decide to order it though give me a buzz and I'll be more than happy to sell it to you. I can find out everything about it if you really are interested in it.
Please don't bash summit. I know our sport compact line leaves much to be desired. But we do have some prices that can't be beat.

Like 12,000 for a motor.

Not necesary.

I would get the 91 LS body and the motor from a GS-R or something. LS/VTEC can have lots and lots of problems if you don't do it right. Overheating is just one of them.
