Fair deal? Opinions please!
I have a 94 Civic EX with a stock motor at the moment. My friend has a 99 GSR with 95k on it. The motor is really clean, he maintains it like crazy. In fact if he popped the hood and showed me the motor I would think it didnt have anywhere near to 95k miles on it. He plans to do some work to it and such. But then we were looking at how alot of people were saying that an ITR motor is better than having a semi built GSR for daily use and reliability. So I decided to propose a deal. I would give him $2200 for his full swap and then he could use that plus his money to go out and get a JDM ITR w/ LSD and such. He would spend about $2150 of his own money. But he said he wants at least $2500 for his swap since its a really clean motor and he just had the timing belt, water pump etc. replaced. So I would pay him $2500 for his motor and everything and then he would have to spend about $1850 of his own money for an ITR motor. Do you think this is a fair deal for both sides or what? The only thing that I am not sure about is that I can easily pick up a JDM GSR down the road for $3100 and those have 30 - 45k miles on them, but I dont know how they were maintained. Let me know H-T !!
I would tell your friend to keep the gsr and build it and buy yourself a jdm gsr swap. Type R engines are a hyped up engine to me. I mean common I could get a B16 swap and put a grand into it and whoop all over the type r. and have alot less in the motor. Bottom line if hes thinking about building it just keep it.
There is no way in hell you could buy a b16 and throw a grand into it and beat a type R. So your saying that putting $1850 into his GSR would be equal to an ITR and the LSD tranny?

Put in some high compression pistons and you'll be knocking on the ITRs door.
As far as the deal, I think it seems fair and I'd rather have his GSR than some JDM swap.

Im planning on staying in N/A. Going turbo in NoVa is like asking for your car to be stolen.
