Default ENGINE REBUILT

OK I'M GETTING READY TO BUILT MY ENGINE FOR TURBO ALL THE WAY FROM RE-SLEVING, PISTONS, RODS THE WHOLE PACKAGE, BUT WHY IS IS THAT MOST OF THE PERFORMANCE SHOPS WON'T GIVE ANY WARRANTY AND WON'T STAND BEHIND THEIR WORK. I HEAR THIS MOTORS ONLY LAST ABOUT 1000 MILES AND THEN YOU/I WILL HAVE TO REBUILT AGAIN. I LIVE IN LOS ANGELES IF YOU FOLKS OUT THERE HAVE ANY ADVISE ON THE AVERAGE PRICE TO BUILT A PERFORMANCE MOTOR AND A GOOD SHOP THAT WILL STAND BEHIND THEIR WORK LET ME KNOW. ALSO ANY ADVISE ON MY SET UP WILL BE GOOD. I'M GOING WITH GOLDEN EAGLE SLEVES, JE SRP PISTONS 8:5:1 COMP AND 81 1/2 BORE WITH EAGLE RODS, NEW BEARINGS, INTEGRA B18 LS MOTOR, LS HEAD WITH 5 STAGE PORT AND POLISH, WITH 3 ANGLE VALVE JOB. AEM PULEY, FUEL REGULATOR, FUEL PUMP, INJECTORS, FULL CUSTOM TURBO KIT WITH A TURBONETICS TURBO, THIS MOTOR WILL TAKE EASY 40 PSI OF BOOST. LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU EXPERTS THINK ABOUT THIS?

they usally give you some sort of warranty. They dont want to warranty the fact if you go racing and blow up ur motor its not their fault. talk to them a little bit more.

lay off the caps, man.

Racing shops don't give racing warranties because if something breaks in your engine causing massive damage, they'll have to replace it. If it so some routine work but not a racing motor, i'm sure they will offer a warranty for their work. You're talking about a different scenario for your situation.

Hmm. You might think about posting in the Integra forum or the Forced Induction forum. since, afterall you are talking about an INTEGRA engine in the PRELUDE forum. Just a suggestion... otherwise good luck and keep the caps off.

Uhh I've built several motors...and there was never a warranty on them. If you want something reliable...don't buy a race motor.

those sleeves may be able to take 40 psi, but the rest of your internals will not...nor will your turbo push that much psi...and nor will you be able to run 40 psi on pump gas. You might need to set your sights on something a little more reasonable...like say 20 psi. Just my .02

Okay, you definitely need to do more searching.

Sure the sleeves can handle 40psi of pressure.....but as boostinb20vtec said, nothing else in your motor can. Have you any idea how much 40psi is? How bout this....have you any idea how much 20psi is?

Eagle rods and 40psi?
8.5:1 compression and 40psi?
Anything other than super duper race fuel and 40psi?
YOU and 40psi?
You and searching?

Running even 20psi will kill just about every single car on the road/track. Do a little more researching and set more realistic goals.

I KNOW I WAS TOLD IT WILL HANDLE 40PSI DOES NOT MEAN I'M PUSHING THAT I'M THNKING MORE LIKE 25PSI, ANY ADVISE ON THE SET UP I'M USING JE SRP FORGED PISTONS AND EAGLE RODS?

Please do not use CAPS LOCK. We can read it fine without it.

When they were talking about 40psi, they were talking about how Golden Eagle Manufacturing sleeves are tested to 40psi of pressure. This is just a safety number, FYI.

Anyway, if you seriously want to boost that high....25psi, then I'd look at something else besides SRP pistons and Eagle rods.

Do you have any idea how much a reliably boosting 25psi motor will cost you? Just the motor, I'd say close to $10K, if not more. To reinforce the other parts of the car, such as the drivetrain, etc.....probably more.

EDIT: I wouldn't even attempt to post this in the Forced Induction forum. Not to flame, but you will be laughed right out of that forum. Do some searching here and look at what you'll need for the power goals you want.

I know you want the power, everyone does, but once you start with a turbo project, you will see how difficult it actually is. Say goodbye to your wallet....in more ways than one.

Can I ask why you want a 25psi setup? What kind of applications are you using it for?

EDIT: Stop with the CAPS LOCK!

Yes it can be handled with forged pistons and resleeving. But look at a different set of pistons. I'm not sure the SRP line of JE is really recommended for 25psi. And definitely Eagle isn't recommended for 25psi.

WHEN IT COMES TO A RELIABLE MOTOR DO YOU GUYS RECOMMEND DOING A MOTOR SWAP INTEAD OF WHAT I HAVE IN MIND WITH THE TURBO? I'VE BEEN THINKING A TYPE R B18C5 ON MY LS I HAVE ABOUT $12,000 MAYBE MORE...TO BUILT THE TURBO PROJECT OR JUST GET ANOTHER ENGINE?

dude, your idea of what your asking for is absurd. And my opinion of what you need vs looking for is as follows:

the setup you described is a pure drag racing car that will self destruct. like previously posted your drivtrain and other non engine components will fall apart killing you and all occupents.

research.. i dont even think cheezfrogs civic is boosting that much

dude, if this project is for a daily street car.. your on the opposite end of the spectrum pistons, rods, even the sleeves (pending they are the one's with the water jackets,b w/ out = overtheating) ..are great for a daily turbo but overbor and boosting that much your never gonna smog.. holy christ man, just go w/ pistons, rods, upgraded valvetrain,gs-r trans, 10psi intercooled, with a standalone engine management or eepromed and tuning oh.. and that upgraded 3" exhaust

no need for that much porting either maybe a stage2, FYI the b18b has been known to boost 7-10 psi on stock internals and ignition. just reinforce the bottom end w/ out the sleeves, boost like 10psi tune, tune, tune, and be happy

Ok, I'm not the smartest person when it comes to forced induction, but i can tell you, like the others have, that your goal of 40 psi is not reallistic. I also have a b18 that I just finished installing a hybrid turbo kit, I also have forged srp pistons, bored .020 over (9-2-1), eagle rods, new bearings thruout, valve job, polished crank, decked the block, shaved the head, crane stage 2 cams and a whole bunch of other mods and I would not even think of boosting more than 12-15 psi. Even with my profec e-01 boost controller knowing exactly what I'm boosting. It sounds real nice to say I'm gonna boost some crazy psi, but after you drop that kinda money into it, it more or less forces you to be a little more realistic so you dont blow all that time, money and hard work.

lay off the crack pal and the caps

but I'd say max your engine will take is 20 psi drivable but not for long
