Take it off and get it checked . It's only two bolts plus the 12v and switch wire.

What do you mean when you say you get nothing? you dont hear the solenoid clicking? or is it just no sound. If you have absoultely nothing then try making sure all connections are tight. battery could be lose, tight enough for accessories but not enough power to jump the solenoid and turn the starter. The starter does draw quite a bit of current.

yea if there is no sound then it could be a lose connection or somthen but if there is a click sound when u turn it over then the starter is goin bad

if you hear a sound similiar to the sound that lloyd makes in dumb and dumber ("hey....wanna hear the most annoying sound in the world??? EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE")

then it's most likely your starter...but if you hear nothing.....id say that the starter's connection is loose............good luck

thats not always true, when my starter went out in my truck it just completely died.. no click or nothin, I thought it was a loose connection too.. but first thing I would check is your battery, if its not charged enough everything will still turn on, except the car.. just jump it and see if it starts.

that is more than likely the main relay. it's a little box located under the dash on the driver's side. remove the coin tray and it's up in thereby the door. when they go bad for some reason they won't start when it's warm. car cooled off at night and it starts. mine left me stranded at work a few times before i figured it out.

I personally believe it's the starter. Starters can have a tendency of not working consecutively. Especially bad starters. I once went through 3 starters until I got one that worked. It might be the main relay, but, I doubt it.

typically when you have a bad starter, you can bang on it with a hammer or sometihng hard and it will dislodge the brushes enough to get it started. same with the alternator actually.

just because your engine doesnt start, and your "accessories" work, it doesnt mean your battery is still in good condition. you should have started first with diagnosing your battery. if you didnt hear any "click" from under the dash, then that means your main relay is the problem. in my experience, ive found starters to be pretty robust and usually not the cause of bad starting. (damn, i just jinxed myself... good thing i do have a spare starter...)

I was having the same symptoms with my car when it had the starter problems. Sometimes it would start, sometimes it wouldn't. Hitting the starter didn't do much. Then it just quit for life. It would just click. Got a new one and I've been A-OK

When my 88 dx did this, it was the main relay.

main relay is above the hood release switch.

pull that change tray out and you can see it, black box, held in with a 10mm or 7mm bolt.. I can't remember cuz its been so long.

no, here, on the left bolted to the chassis, right where your shin would be resting.
