new cams for my b16a
I'm, looking for new cams for my b16 crx and was thinking of going with gsr's i know ctr/itr will produce more power but just seems to be alot more money, how big of a power differance are they gsr-(ctr/itr) i know ctr makes a couple extra horse compared to itr because of the intake but just an average number, when i do decided to install them do i need anything else if i plan on keeping my stock rev(if went with ctr), differant cam gears? and such...
More lift, more duration. Man, if you wanna do gsr cams you must be way desperate on making cheap horsepower....don't even waste your time. And as far as buying ctr's and then buying cam gears, you won't make any more power with cam gears unless you strap your car onto a dyno, and that cost money. Seriously man, how much longer will it take you to save for a type r over a damn gsr camshaft
i was just wondering what the differances were thats why im doing some research before going out and buying something, knowledge is power... i wouldnt be asking if i didnt know and didnt want to know

yeah o.k.
that would be the biggest waste of money. gsr cams are worth $50 bux, and, ctr's or itr's make a good amount more power than gsr's when tuned. that was some whack advise.

I asked the same question a while back either on here or on the rocket forums because at the time I thought I was going to be getting a set for very cheap, and the general reply that I got was that it was worth the money at least for now, and they aren't difficult to sell when you move on to better cams. Depending on what you're planning to spend on them, I'd say do it.
i was thinking about getting ctr's but i just didnt want to spend 200 extra bucks for 1 more horse thats why i was debating becuase i cant seem to find the differances
[QUOTE=hybridvteceg]im talking on a stock b16. they will not make mounds more hp than even the stock b16 cams.
but im sure you knw more than i do. sorry for steppin on your toes
i'm not offended, i just feel differently. if the ctr's are tuned, like i first stated (cam gears & vafc or Hondata) the difference is very noticeable. i've seen 9whp & 6wtq over b16 cams with very little tuning.

alright how bout this someone told me that if i was going with forced induction, gsr cams would be better than ctr because although they dont have as high lift they have a longer lift duration with which to cram more in.... whats the deal with that.
This is somewhat true, CTR cams have more lift but alot of overlap, overlap is not good for FI since you would just be letting boost out.You could get rid of the overlap by adjusting the cam gears.GSR have slight overlap and still have okay lift plus they are designed for a low vtec point.. So if you dont want to have alot of tuning ahead of you get the GSR cam, But if you dont mind tuning get the CTR cams.My choice would be CTR cams of coarse, gsr cams just wont be worth the troble to swap for a NA setup.
