Default !!!!!!tach jumps around when driving, help with the problem

ok, i was in my friends si, and when he gives his car, his tach will kinda jump a little, like it doesn;t go smoothly from 5 to 8 rpm's- its jumps bad. like it jumps only under power, what could be wrong? is this bad? The clutch if fine, so ite not the clutch slipping, im not sure what else it could be. He hopes its not his motor.

It cant be this, because its a brand new igniter from a honda dealer. Im wondering if it electrical. He just washed everything under the hood, so maybe its the water and stuff screwing things up. But i hope it not the igniter, he just bought a new igniter( as did I), he paid like $180 for it. so it shouldn't be that.

Sounds like your ignitor to me too. Since its new, really cheak to make sure the conections are really tight with those little clips from it. I had a loose wire once when i replaced one, my car would just die every once in a while. It was an easy fix by tightening the crimp connectors.

ok, i told him that, he is going to try that. he was wondering any other possible causes, so he can look at every aspect of the problem. Thanx for the input though.
