I heard its not good to drive without a IC for both the motor and the car. If needed go to the junkyard and get a Jetta 1.8T SMIC atleast.

it's probably fine as long as you're not dragging it constantly, and don't live in the south where 100+ degree temps are the norm, but def don't boost more then 7-8 psi. i'd suggest asking this ? in the FI forum.

i would recommend SOME form of intercooler, sidemount, front mount, whatever. Id never trust any car @ 8psi with no intercooler. pretty much any OEM intercooler will do the job. Porsche 944 turbo and Starions come with big front mounts.

you can run it without an IC, but it's not safe to run a decent amount of boost without one.

I have searched about this kit here and I too was looking to find out how well the kit runs completly stock. Well most people said they really liked it and that it gives great power without an intercooler. I dont think greddy would make the kit if peoples engines were blowing up. Do a search and read what others have said.

Does that mean you dont have a BOV ? Thats more important then a intercooler, youll blow your motor without one.

Not if you keep it under 6 pounds. The good part about running no IC under 6 pounds is the throttle response, and because you can run such a small turbo the boost will be instantaneous, and almost feel like a really strong N/A motor.

hahaa.. no you wont.. wow.. you need some forced induction classes too..

a blow off valve only escapes pressure at the throttle body. thus meaning, no extream pressure between the compressor fins, and throttle body butterfly.

over time.. yes, it will hurt 1 or the other.. it will not blow your motor. worst case sanareo, you bend a few compressor fins, and start carving away at the inisde of the turbo snail...

spend some time in the FI forum guys.. you'll be surprized.

hmm... i always thought that if you boost you need a BOV so you dont push to much air into the cambers next time you open throttle, which would cause you to run to lean and blow a hole in a piston. Guess i was wrong.

nah, you'll kill the turbo but it won't blow the motor.

W/o a BOV, you get compressor surge and thats HARD on the turbo. It can actually cause the turbine to spin backwards if your running larger amounts of boost and the BOV doesnt do its job.

nah its to save the life of your turbo man. I think you will be fine without the intercooler on the greddy kit as long as your under 7psi. I'm running 6psi right now with some ghetto *** charge pipes and a sidemount intercooler mounted in the engine bay where the cai usually goes into( which probably means it isn't doing ****...just sitting in the heat). This is only a temporary setup, but it runs fine for now until i get my new charge pipes and a front mount. It actually pulls much stronger than i thought it would.

You might want to just hook up your windshield wiper fluid pump to squirt water into your charge piping and just hit that when your putting a lot of load on the motor.

oh ya go ahead and flood your engine with water. you need a special mist tip for water injection. i wish it was that simple

you guys are all gay.. the water injection cooling topic is for the intercooler only... he didnt' say he was going to shoot water into the inlet to the turbo, or into the filter... come on now..
