Default How good is an OBX Header?

I've heard some good things about some OBX parts but some shitty ones about others... specially short shifter, their short shifters are P.O.S. for a fact...

But I "heard" the headers are alright. They say is like the same thing as a DC Header except without the CARB#. I'm in California n cops are asses but I can always put the heat shield on top of it.

My question is how good is the quality and as far as performance goes how good is it and how much does it make if you guys know (they do claim it makes dyno proven power)? I can get one pretty cheap for less then $200.

Any comments would be

i haven't heard of obx gaining much, i haven't seen anyone dyno it either. A DC header on a prelude doesn't net much compared to the more expensive headers. I don't recommend you get the OBX header, IMO spend a little more and get what you paid for.

thanks for the info. I know they don't give that much gains, but I guess you got a point about saving the money for a good one.

Anyone alse have anything to say about this header?

I have a OBx header and exhaust. I am pleased with both. Runnin a 2.5" exhaust. Its loud and I belive I lost some power down low, But it pulls good up top.

The quality of the OBX header has been covered in the accord forum, maybe you could find some useful info there. Anyhow, some people were giving positive comments, while others didn't.

Personally, I felt that they made a difference. However, after less than two years of driving it was leaking all over. Horrible, I could not pass NY state inspection. The fumes would sip through the vent, and when idling i.e. waiting for a red light, I had to hold my breath and close my eyes.

So looking at it from a momentarily perspective, the OBX header is good since it gives some hp/tq gain and it's financially cheap. However, in the long run it's pointless. Save the 150+ dollars and buy something better.

OBX they just copy other companies' stuff. bout as good as DC headers (also ). assuming you are talking about an H22, the only ones that do much are pretty expensive. if you are not going for massive power, then headers are not really necessary on an H22. most you will get is 3 hp for the $600+ headers. the h22 comes with a 4-2-1 anyway. just do a cat back and save up for something better

I am sure you would be much more pleased w/ a different exhaust.

What is the stock prelude exhaust manifold crapped out, and you just want a cheap replacement.

I don't care so much about the power gains, but more about if the longetivity. Is the quality of the build good? any feedback from anyone who has it?

just look around on here for a replacement stock one, the stocker off a jdm h22 will pick you up a few hp, almost as much as a dc will.....

and the obx is probably a copy of the dc, along with the megan and all those other copy brands, so output will be about the same.....

btw where did you dig this thread up from??? last may??

[shameless plug=]i have a jdm h22a stock exhaust mani for sale, 60 plus shipping[/shameless plug]

I have the OBX header, with about 15k miles. No problems at all, and fitment was fine. Performance did pick up a bit, not big, but certainly $150 dollars worth.

BTW... The OBX is not an exact DC copy. It's very similar, but the pipe diameters are a bit larger. Also, the assembly is different. The flanges don't mate to the pipes quite as neatly.

A little big larger huh? Can anyone verify this? This might be interesting for a collector mod header.

Here's my thread on my Megan header install, probably the exact same design.

how close to the collector can you cut it so that you can flare it out to 2.5" ? where would be the best place on the collector to cut ?

Just cut it so it's at the same position. Then weld on one of these.

I don't know of any. I know Burns may seem a bit pricey, but I guess you get what you pay for right?
