WTF? - weird headunit/CD player problem
Just happend today, my kenwood headunit only turns on when it's on the first ignition point and when I turn to the second and prime the car it shuts off and stays off, I don't know what happens when I start the car but I'm going to guess it stays off.
Just happend now, and this CD player doesn't give me much trouble at all, except that the eject is slow at times.
Any ideas?

Bad wire, probably your "memory" wire (dont know the real name but thats what i call it, the one that holds your memory stuff) is disconnected.
Pull the unit and look at your wires. Either that or its time for a new radio.

Wasnt constant power the other wire? The one that always supplys you with power? If not then whats that wire? (usually a red wire, when the memory wire is yellow.)

there's usually three wires together that are mistaken for a regular power wire. red: accessory (turns on your deck when u turn the key to accessory or run) yellow: battery or constant power supply, your "memory wire" (always runs power to the deck to keep time and settings. orange: dimmer (when you dim your dash lights it dims your deck also.

Oh ok thanks for clearing that up
Oh ok thanks for clearing that up
Ok thanks for the responses.
I looked behind there and found nothing out of the ordinary, everything seems ok.
The only thing I am guessin is the headunit itself.
Oh and one other thing: After the car has been sitting for a bit (like 5 mins) then it starts to work OK....wtf?
Here's the funnier part, the longer the car sits, the longer it stays on.
Mind you once more, this is only on the accessory, the ON position is normal, the headunit acts completely fine.
So weird....

maybe is has something to do with the hotter the head gets or some of the wires the loser the soder gets and then when it sits it cools off and the soder gets hard again and works.

put a voltmeter on the red wire, and see if it has voltage when the key is in the on position... If it does, bad headunit... If it doesnt, you got yourself a wiring issue.

Nah, the car is off
- Like I said I havn't started the car, but if it doesn't work when it's on the accessory then it won't work well when it's accutally running.
