Default Time to build my motor - 300hp gets old after a while

Any advice on these parts that im going to be ordering in a couple days... im pulling the motor this weekend and bringing it to a machine shop to have them fix it up, 150k on motor so im sure there are some iffy spots.

Im keeping stock sleeves, i dont want a 500hp monster. 375~400 sounds good to me, its a street car. Motor is b18c1.

CP 9:1 pistons, stock bore
Eagle Rods
STR blockguard
Cometic Turbo headgasket
ARP head studs

the turbo i have on it right now is t3/60-1 so im going to keep that. I only have rc440's now so ill be getting bigger injectors. I am going to be doing this with a friend of mine so I learn what to do. The 'search' button will be my friend over the next few weeks...

If anyone is intrested my old setup made 294whp on stock internals @ 9psi w/ hondata s200b. Looking for around 375-400 area with this new setup, maybe 15psi range

looks like a nice setup. I hear mixed things about using a block gard... might want to look into that more.

blockguard is fine, they need to spend time on it and not rush fit it. People have warped the cylinders by not trimming the guard properly. Spend the time do it right, and get the cylinders honed after the guard install. I use the GE blockguard, basically the same thing as STR and no problems with it.........

Stock bore? Didn’t you say the engine had 150k miles on it? I would at least go .020 over. Even if you replace your standard size rings it doesn’t matter because cylinders don’t wear evenly. They become oval shaped over time. I would definitely bore it out and go oversized on the pistons.

Since you are already spending lots of money on the motor why not do it right and sleeve it also?

It would be a shame to have to sleeve it a few month down the road because of a cracked sleeve.

at least punch that thing out .020......get some overbore pistons, etc....then you'll have great ring sealing.

Before i would even consider sleeving it, i would spend the money on a wideband.

I wouldnt worry to much about the sleeves. If your only going to bore it .020 over it shouldnt be an issue. Were only talking about .020 here. Thats just over the thickness of 3 sheets of notebook paper. Its just enough to ensure a good seel. The likelyhood of cracking a sleeve on down the road is a lot less than the engine starting to smoke a few weeks down the road.

it has been done in the past and it will continue it just depends on the turbo and the tuning
