Default building my F23 - to sleeve or not to sleeve?

I've blown 3 stock F23 motors now w/ my turbo setup and I'm tired of it. I'm in the process of tearing the motor down now. The cylinders look really good (to my surprise). I will be pulling the pistons/rods this weekend and checking the cylinder bore.

Plans: 8.5:1 CP pistons, 86mm, and crower connecting rods. Wish there were head studs available but not finding any.

The big question: the stock iron F23 sleeves are still looking good, should I sleeve the motor?

Looking for opinions, $ is an issue, but not a big one, I just want to ensure this motor lasts a while, and puts down some good power. (300+ whp)

I put down 242 hp/268 ft/lbs on a stock motor w/ blowby but it didn't last very long after that.

TIA

If you do resleeve (which you shouldn't have to) go with Darton. As long as you beef up the rest of your internals... the sleeves should be good

I'm torn between Darton and Benson, both are excellent sleeves.

Bump!

Like I said though, you should be fine with the stock sleeves unless your running REDICULOUS amounts of boost. But if you are... go Darton

There's plenty of guys running 300+hp on stock sleeves (although mostly B-series), but I don't know how the sleeves would hold up over a long period of time. I know you said money is an issue, but if either of the sleeves (Darton or Benson) are within your budget, I'd say do it. The extra money spent now could mean a lot less headaches down the road.

As far as head studs go you can use ARP head studs for the H23 they are the exact same ones for our motor. I'm using them on my car right now. If I were you just for the insurance I would have it sleeved. But go with benson or golden eagle. I had mine done with L.A. lseeve about 3 years ago and it was kind of a pain. These would be much easier. Sleeving really isn't that much more once you look at the whole picture. Plus if something lets go with forged internals you can just have those sleeves re-honed or bored and your good to go. With the stock sleeves they may crack or warp so much that you can't do any thing with them.

You're bumping a post that is over eight years old man. lol Heck a stock F23 can hold 9 psi of boost before you blow something. With pistons, rings, rods, and a quality head gasket you should be fine with fair amounts of boost. Welcome to HT.
