Well, go out to start the car and it starts just fine. Then, it dies immediately. I try to start again and it turns over, but this time it doesnt start. After you release the key from the ignition I hear this distinct whining noise which soon fades out.

Couple minuets later, the car turns over and actually starts so I try to give it a little gas when I see that it has started. I get NO throttle response and the car dies quickly again. Then a few minuets later the car starts and I finally get throttle response. I am free to leave and go about my business.

Also, this problem doesn't happen every day. It usually happens once a week.

What is wrong here? I JUST replaced the starter like 2 months ago so that can't be it. What could it be?

what year? I am going through the same... I replaced my main fuel relay on my 1990 and it wasn't it, so I have an extra one. Next on my list is coil, ignitor, and we'll see what else happens.

keep the gas pedal down a little, and tell me if your car still dies out? Is the check engine light on?

 

do a tune-up, change the plugs, wires, fuel filter, pcv valve...that should help it out..let me know how u make out.

what is a pcv valve? Is the main fuel relay the same as the PGM-FI relay?

110,000 miles on my car

 

Mt 91 teg did the same thing. It ended up being the coil that burned out and it eventually died on the road. My wife's 91 Accord did a similar thing but it ended up being the ignitor. Both are cheap parts. Get someone who knows what they are doing to take a look at it ASAP. Should be an easy fix.

 

I own a 90 Ls integra wit the same problem&gt;...If i were you i would remove the spark plugs:mark them off before u take them all out and then with a light check inside the combustion chamber (because i had the exact same problem changed the cap rotor plugs wires, and even the distributor turns out the timing belts slipped off the gears and hopped a few teeth before connecting again,) but you are probelby getting way too much fuel and are flooding the motor i had the same thing i did everything and thats what it was!.. also make sure if flooding is the case and it has been happening pretty often CHANGE THE OIL or the fumes in the crankcase could eventully explode!!!

 

Check your grounds.

Mine was doing that and i had a loose ground that would randomly short out and kill all spark.

 

go do an archived search under integra forum and type in "engine bogging" or somethin like that, and one should pull up with me in it, cuz me and this guy had the same problem, and he took his ride to acura and they told him that it was the spark going through the wires was causing it to bogg out or something,

check it out, im not exactly sure what it was but i know its in there

 

i'm not trying to be a pompous *******. But use the search feature. Honestly, you get a sh!tload of information using it. Things that you forgot to mention (symptoms?) might show up as things that other members noticed.
For my 2 cents...if you get a CEL (check engine light) check out http://www.c-speedracing.com for figuring out exactly what means what.
