Default What are some cheap but good subs/amps?

I'm looking for some subs and amplifiers that are fairly inexpensive (cheap), but that are good for clean sounding bass. I was looking into the visonik dual voice coil subs and they seem pretty nice. For amps, I pretty much have seen nothing.

What are some tried and true inexpensive subs and amplifiers that would produce clean sounding bass. What would you suggest? TIA

with anything car audio your sound quality will come from 70% install 30% equipment.

i would pass up that visonik and look at...

Cerwin Vega HED series around 40 bux on ebay
Kicker comp VR series (got my 12 dvc for 75 bux)
image dynamics about 100 bux
alpine type R
Hart Professional EGK series (square subs)
hifonics zues
crunch noxx PZ12R
theres a few more i cant think of ill post later

as far as an amp goes u need to have a amp that is able to push the sub u have

i dont know much about the visonik sub u mentioned other than its DVC which im assuming 2 4ohm voice coils which when wired parallel requieres a 2 ohm load. so if u plan on uning a dual 4ohm voice coil sub make sure that your amp will push the sub near its RMS at least.

if u want a really good deal i would look into running one cerwine vega HED 10 at about .90 ft^3 sealed powered by a MTX 202 or another well made small amp
total should run well under 150 if shopped right

just my $00.02

if u want a good deal stay away from JL audio

Your amp is the most important thing in your system, so you should get a decently good amp. The best thing to do, is have a friend that works at Best Buy and use his employ discount to buy your stuff. Its like 45%!. You can always find good deals on used stereo stuff, but finding good audio equipment brand new will be hard.

agreed^^^^

i would suggest the kenwood 800 watt 2 channel amp.
it is capable of holding a 2ohm load bridged and best buy employees get it for 108
hehehehe yes ive tried. or u can take a trip down here and i can tell u where to get a good deal on pheonix digital amps for about 90 bux or so. but if u just want a lil bump quick and ur not looking for system expansion i would suggest the vega and a small amp combo

here is the vega on ebay
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISA...&rd=1

well actually as long as u have a amp that powers your sub correctly (careful cheap amps power rating are over rated) and u have the proper enclosure u should be fine. so if u get a good deal on a amp go for it but beware cheap amps that say 1000 watts really probly put out like 350.

but if u plan on any system expansion get a good high powered amp first at least 500 watt @ 2ohm

What do you guys think about Lanzar or Power Acoustic? I know they are pretty cheap sounding companies, but the spex of their amps don't seem so bad, but they could be over rated. The RMS looks good on some of their amps and THD is better than some bigger name amps. They are also very inexpensive.

They're not what I would call bad, but not what I would call good either.

In my experience, it is better just to fork over the money. You end up spending less in the long run.

Some of Lanzar's upper end stuff is good, but it is more expensive than most of the Lanzar stuff out there.
