How important is THD when dealing with subs?

I know THD is all about how clean the sound is amplified, but how important is that with subs? The only sound that will be coming out will be low pitched sounds and I assume that a higher THD is not going to effect it as much as if I were to power my mids and tweets.
What would be the maximum THD for clean sounding bass? TIA

10% is what is considered acceptable.

So anything under 10% will sound clean? I see the real cheap amps have a THD of .05% and the really good ones have like .002%. So I guess I just have to consentrait on the RMS of the amp @ what OHMs to pair up with the speaker then.
Thanks.
Thanks.
What is more importnant is what the actual power output is. Amplifier companies find interesting ways to rate there amps. Not all amps are created equall. Pay attention to what frequency the RMS reading is rated at it should only be from 5-20kHz.
Car audio companies are pretty shady as far as ratings go. You can't judge an car audio equipment by its specs hardly anymore. You have to take it for what its worth. Learn the equipment from experienced users or listen to the equipment yourself in car audio shops.

Thanks guys, this really helped a lot. I need to go out and take a listen and tell the difference for myself or go with a good quality product that has good reviews. Thanks again for the info peoples.
It is not much of an issue with subs. That is why class D amps are meant for subs.
If you are trying to use this to judge quality, just keep in mind that in car audio you get what you pay for.
