Alpine Amp Opinions?
I am thinking about purchasing this amp to run 2 6.5 JL Audio XR series mids, and an Alpine R series 10, or 12.
Bridged mode, it would supply 120 watts RMS to the mids, and 200 watts to the sub, at 4 ohms. It only costs 287, and I think it makes more sense to just have one amp as space is limited in my s2k trunk.
What do you think?

So this would sound better than the Visonik amp? 120watts is in bridged mode, so obviously it would just be 60 watts normally. Two Alpines wouldnt be better than just this one, would they? Theres no way I could get two for 287. Other than that, is the R series sub a good sub?

Alpine makes some nice ,clean and reliable amps. It should be good. 120 RMS is a lot of power to the mids but it's always better to turn the gain down than up IMO...

But that doesnt run a sub also does it? The Alpine does, I need that.
So it is the Visonik thats distorting my sound?

It sounds that Alpine is producing quality amps, however, on this amp, it says its tri-mode capable. Where you essentially use a sub crossover and one of the channels to power a sub through a 2 channel amp. I hear this sounds very sub par, so my question is, when they state that it pushes 60 watts by 2 and 200 watts by 1, is this in tri-mode?

I believe when Alpine talks about Tri-mode is when you wire up two channels to run bridged and in mono ate the same time. In other words, you hook up two stereo speakers-one to each channel. Then you hook up one speaker to the same two channels but bridged. The 2 stereo speakers run stereo like normal and the single speaker (like a sub) gets a mono signal and power from both channels...
You shouldn't have a problem with 4 stereo channels and a mono channel for the sub. This amp would power your whole system pretty nice and be much simpler to install...
Well, I went out and did alittle more tuning on the amp, I got it pretty cleared up, but still not great. As of right now, I am going to run an 8 inch sub in a custom box, and the Visonik in tri-mode to see how it sounds. If that doesnt work, Ill just purchase this amp, and have a great sounding system.

I purchased an Elemental Designs e8a sub, which apparently likes a healthy 300 watts of power, so maybe it would just be better, and cheaper, if I ran two seperate Alpines, like this one for the sub, http://www.ikesound.com/product-product_id/1281 , and this one for the mids, http://www.ikesound.com/product-product_id/1283 . How do you think that would sound? Im sure the sub will bang out, but is 50 watts enough for my XR series mids? I know 70 would be, but I can run them at 2 ohms?

I also found this one http://www.ikesound.com/product-product_id/640 , 75 watts x 2 + 400 watts x 1 at 2 ohms ,
That thing has to hit hard. For the extra price, I would rather have this. The all in one Alpine wont handle a two ohm load, and the two seperate Alpines will barely cost less, and this will pump out far more power. What do you think?

The difference between 300 watts and 400 watts on a sub is about 1.5 decibels. ( PM me if you need me to explain this) I think the separate Alpines would be a bit cleaner...
