well let me start off with I searched.. and I tried every search phrase I could think of, but no results came in.

I bought an LS long block yesterday that has no compression in all cylinders, which I plan on rebuilding. now, I have a friend that has a GSR motor that just happens to be getting bottom end work done. and he has no need for the pistons and rods.
will the pistons work in my LS? and if so will there be a power gain? I figure it's a way to bump the LS's compression a little. however, I have no hard facts on if its even worth attempting or if it can even be done.
another question is if I do use the GSR pistons, do I have to use either the GSR or LS rods or is there no difference between the LS and GSR rods?

Cliffs notes(questions that need an answer):
-will GSR pistons bolt right into an LS motor?
-is there a difference between LS and GSR rods?
-is this even worth doing?

 

a buddy of mine bought some GSR pistons for his LS block, and the LS rods would not work with the GSR pistons, however he did manage to use Japanese B16 pistons instead. he told me the GSR pistons wouldnt physically fit on the LS rods without filing them down.

could be wrong, someone correct me if i am.

search google for gsr piston compression ratio, i forget the name of the websit but it has the compression ration for every combination of rod and pistons

interesting idea.. but not seeing how it's going to help me at the moment.

 

well, ill tell you what it runs, but you wont believe me. . . no one believes any of us until they see it run at our local drag track.

its a 95 ls with b16 pistons, mild head work (crower cams, springs/retainers, stock valves, mild intake/exhaust polish) bullfrog race computer, and of course the usual upgrades: comptech intake, kamikaze header, 2.5 straight pipe exhaust (no cat) MSD 6AL with two step. . . i cant think of anything else. with his stock ls pistons it ran 14.3, now it runs consistent 14.0 at 99mph.


he said he could tell a slight difference, but it was pretty obvious when you saw it run 2 tenths quicker every pass. he's a really consistent driver, so it wasnt just him figuring out something new.
