Default Tuning with Hondata

A local mechanic says that he can tune my car using hondata software without a dyno. Is this possible? I though the car had to be on a dyno to be tuned.

"tuning" has many connotations ... and in many instances just means putting numbers into cells for fuel and timing values

A dyno is useful for determining the "results" of the "tuning" ...

dyno tuning is just to extract every hp. often, when tuned very well, only few adjustments may be needed on the dyno.

Im intersted in dropping in toda spec b cams and wanted to know if the car could be tuned properly without a dyno. The mechanic says he has a data logger so taking the car for a ride would be the same as running it on a dyno

Your tuner is probably referring to street tuning. Make sure that he uses a wideband O2 sensor to monitor the A/F ratio.
