Default I have no VTEC!! WTF??

Yesterday on my spirited drive to work I noticed my VTEC was not engaging. The car doesnt seem to be really sluggish or anything (mabey a bit cause the weather has been muggy) but a 5000rpm nothing happens.
I know it could be many issues that are causing this but any suggestions you guys might have on troubleshooting this would be great.

Thanks in advance

Was your car warmed up? It won't engage VTEC if the engine is cold.

Car was warmed up... oil was a bit low so I added, problem still persists right now.

Perhaps having low oil level caused some damage?
The car was stored through the winter and Ive been driving it this season for about a month. I really did nothing to winterize or summerize it but the car has been fine for the time its been out.

I dunno, any other suggestions.

on the VTEC solenoid there is a filter that often gets clogged over time. You must remove the three bolts holding it and have a shop rag ready to catch the oil that will come out of the head and solenoid..once it is removed you will see the screen attached to a very odd shaped gasket use a pick to remove it be careful not to damage the gasket .. you can use throttlebody spray cleaner to remove the debris or carb cleaner.. wipe of the gasket and reinstall... if that doesnt work.. you want want to refer to the helms manual on testing procedures to see if the Solenoid itself is not functioning properly.. hope this helps..

How would this affect my VTEC or engine performance ?? Cause come to think of it, I bottomed out really really badly around the same time I noticed this problem. I flew over a speed bump at like 30km/hr while talking to a chick in my school parking lot. Im on skunk2 coilovers on the lowest setting and tockico 5 ways... ya thats right, Im a looooozer!!

So, how do I check to see if this is my problem?

check the solenoid and that there is power going to the solenoid...also im not sure, but if there is a fuse for the solenoid, or just vtec harness, make sure its not blown...could be something real dumb...who knows...i don't think a dented oil pan would cause this..unless the crash was so severe that the oil pump got messed up....that would be a problem

well I bet thats your problem!!! Jack up your car and look at the oil pan. If it is dented more than like around 3/4 of an inch then take it off and pound out the dent. Then I bet you will be vtec happy again.

Oh and for gods sakes raise your car up! There is no point in being that low!
