What could be causing my Code 67?
Alright, now I'm just plain upset. I have gotten a code 67 again, and I have no idea where its coming from. What are all the possibilities? I originally anticiptaed it was the secondary O2 sensor, but I put it on my buddies b16 to see if it would throw a code and....well it didn't. My next guess was that it was my carsound, so over the winter I replaced the Carsound, and thought everything was okay. The car even passed emissions in the meantime. Now today, on my way back from our Chicago ITR bbq, the damn light came back on, and wouldn't you guess it, another code 67.
My question is what the hell else could be causing this damn CEL
Also, BTW, I am now using a secondary O2 off a 2000 Civic SI. Could this be causing it?

Using that O2 sensor is fine.
You have the Hytech header and exhaust right? Maybe your cat is too far and not getting "hot" enough to heat up the sensor? Or maybe the Carsound got bad already?

The Carsound actually has two bungs. I am using the front bung before the catalyst material. Should I extend the wiring and use the bung behind the catalyst?

This car has only been drive about 40 miles or so with the new cat, and its torqed down fine.
Can anyone answer the question of whether or not I should try the other bung?

I always get the same code after ~3 months of a new cat (Random Technology). I've finally concluded that there is just too much fuel being thrown in from the stock computer which blows the cat coupled with the fact it just doesn't get hot enough to burn any excess.
That said - when I'm on the track...it NEVER throws that code. Only when I go to get gas & I'm driving easy. The Helms manual says that the code must see the condition 3 times before displaying the code. To bad I don't have a palm pilot - I found software that would allow me to reset w/o pulling the fuse
Or I could just get a hondata & tune the whole freak'n fuel curve

Yeah I'm completely awestruck. I know I could be running a bit rich, but Ive had the cat on the car for a total of 40 miles. Its just ridiculous.
I may try and extend the wiring in order to get it behind the catalyst material. Where is the sensor placed on an OEM unit?

I think it's because the carsound isn't as efficient as the stock one so it throws a code. Mine did the same thing. I tried the tin foil trick and leaving it out of the cat, neither worked.
I ended up doing the o2 sensor mod:

Here's how it looked when i was done, note the wire colors are off since i had to extend my wires since i have a long header and didn't have the appropriate color wires. It's been working fine without a CEL for quite a while now.

The secondary sensor should be placed AFTER the catalyst material. If it's in front, then it's just reading the same as the primary sensor.
