harnesses from a 96-98 gsr are the EXACT SAME as the ls ones from the same years...i use an ls harness and gsr ecu... dont worry, itll work.

It works just fine. I have a 1995 gsr motor in my 1997 ls. Use the obd1 ecu, you'll need a obd2<obd1 conversion harness. You'll also need to wire vtec, knock sensor, and the secondaries for the im. FYI: it's illegal to have an obd1 motor in an obd2 car. If you plan on passing emissions you'll need to add a ckf sensor, which requires a obd2 oil pump and the senor itself, as well as an obd2 ecu of course.

Now I see your problem, it wasn't very clear in the first question. You'll need to run an obd1 ecu for it to work, becuase i don't think they make obd1>obd2 conversion harness.

i think the obd2 harnesses for a 2000 gsr are different than the 96-99.
