Default VAFC settings for a d16z6

Any info on the settings people are using a VAFC with a sohc vtec. ive done plenty of research and understand bringing it to a dyno would be best! but for now what should i set some things to. Also i want to richen my motor a bit, since its running real lean! Any tips would be great!

on you wide open throttle map i would richen it up to a max of 6 % starting from the lowest rpm point and progressing gradually and as far as VTEC goes 5500 is fine

plus 6& across all rpm points in the high throttle, after vtec.

I used to run mine and plus 5 and finish at 7 in the high throttle and run -3% for cruise and low end fuel economy. And -7 across the whole damn thing and vtec on at 9k for smog checks and dont forget to hide it.

Is it safe to play around with the settings without a wideband?

I had a friend blow his engine because he altered his settings too much without proper tuning.

Yes, its safe. you shouldnt be able to blow your motor with a VAFC alone, maybe with boost but you'd still have to be retarded to do it. Just dont go negative in the settings and youll be fine. If the car has to correct over 15% it throws a CEL so dont adjust too far over 15%.

The *** dyno will prove more valuable than you think if you pay attention to your car. You can tell the difference in power when setting vtec engage points, you can feel when it makes more or less power and get it set up pretty decent.

PLUS ALWAYS PLUS WITH NOX, Usually nox is created by a lean condition. combustion pressures being excesivley high and temrature in excess of 2500 degrees farenheit is when nox is actully created so essntially you wanna cool your combustion chmabers down with mroe fuel but not to much to the point of where you fail other emmisions. Make sure your cat is functioning properly too if you are fialing emissions get it really hot and then with a temp gun check the inlet temperature and the outlet, the outlet should be rough2degrees hotter if the c is functioning correctly

Hey,
How good is the VAFC?
Does it remove the japanese speed limiter?
I recently had a new exhaust fitted and removed CAT, car now seems to be using more petrol, can this be controlled by the VAFC?
Cheers,
Chris
