Default H22 Head Gasket

Ok guys, I need to get a new head gasket put on. My dad is a car parts salesman, so he has lots of hook ups. He has a reliable friend that owns an import auto shop who will do it, along with milling the head for 300 bucks. I have to provide the gasket, so I was wondering if I should get the OE gasket or like a mugen gasket to raise compression. HP gain would be awesome, but what I really want is relaibility, I DONT want this to happen again....so what do you guys think I should do??

raising compression with a gasket isn't the best idea. you're already milling the head so why screw around with the gasket? Just stick with the OEM...

Either mill they head or a thinner gasket, don't do both, you should start getting into a headache with setting the timming..

As it is when you mill the deck you are advancing timming cause the piston gets to the top quicker.

Spoon makes one, not Mugen. You can get them for $125 bucks online at a few places.

Greddy has three with different thickness listed as 'Too Be Announced' on their website.

Thansk guys...I think I'll just get the head milled and go with the OE! I'm having it done thursday and it should be ready friday. 200 bucks for the labor, about 80 for all the gaskets and 40 to mill the head! I am gettin a heck of a deal!

sweet jeff! find out how much he is milling the head so you can figure out how much of a compression increase you will have.

yup..pretty much the thicker the head gasket...the lower the compression....and vice versa

heard that 5th gen head gaskets are different cause of the open deck thing..

they are supposed to be reinforced..what do you guys think of that ?

would it be wise to use a smalled headgasket to get some CR up is it is so ?
