Durability issues of thicker head gaskets.
I have a quick question about using a thicker head gasket in order to reduce compression. It seems to me that although you would benefit from the lowered compression, that a thicker head gasket would leave more room in between the block and the head and would be more prone to blowing.
Any thoughts? Would the pros of lower compression be outweighed by the weakness of the gasket, or is this just an assumption and not really the case?

Re: Durability issues of thicker head gaskets. (newgsr)
After thinking about it a bit, I do think that it should still be as strong as a regular head gasket.
Does anyone have any thoughts about the stackable gaskets? I would think that would leave lots of room for error because there are multiple mating surfaces.

Re: Durability issues of thicker head gaskets. (2.0lhatch)
I just got my Cosmetic 0.057" (the stock HG is just 0.029") headgasket MADE for turbo'd motors today and yeah the middle layer is just a piece of metal and since the heads torqued the same as before I dont see any reason why there'd be any greater chance of a blowout. And for the record the 0.057" HG lowers compression on a B16 by 0.751 points!
