its really easy to change oil. There is a bolt underneath that drains the oil. and the filter just turn counterclockwise to take off. You may have to use an oil filter wrench for that.

You will want to remove the fairing to make the job easier. All you need is filter and oil. You need an owner's manual and/or service manual. They will tell you how much oil you need. For mine, I need 3.4 quarts for an oil change and 3.7 quarts if I change the oil and filter. You'll also want it up on a stand or at least vertical, so all the oil drains. Also, Honda, being the wonderful engineering company that it is, decided to put the oil filter OVER the headers. You'll want to cover the headers so the oil will drain into a catchpan. Be creative (I used a plastic bag).

1. Run your bike for 5 minutes
2. Let cool for 10 minutes
3. Drain oil (watch out, it's still hot/warm)
4. Remove oil filter AFTER all the oil has stopped dripping
5. Using your finger, oil the rubber o-ring in the new filter before installing it
6. Hand-tighten as much as you can, then turn 1/4 turn more
7. REPLACE DRAIN PLUG
8. Refill with new oil
9. Run engine for 5 minutes
10. Add more oil until the mark is between the high and low mark on the dipstick

Do you guys run full synthetic?? Are you running expensive motorcycle oil or just running car oil? I know what the factory says but i am curious, ive always ran Motul oil in my bike and it was stupid expensive, like $50 for 4 liters.

I use mobil1 mx4t. Its not much more than mobil 1 but its specifically for bikes. Shiftin' is super smooth. mx4t and honda tranny's = no misshifts and silky smooth shifting.

Yeh i am defently not intrested in paying my $50 for 4 liters anymore, I am gonna have to find somethign else. Ive heard that basic petrolium oil works. (car oil)
I don't really wanna use something thats not synthetic though, I might just switch to a fully synthetic car oil =p save myself $30 an oil change.

I have the same bike, 02 f4i, didnt have to take the fairing off to get the filter off. Seriously, takes all but 30 minutes tops from start to finish.
