replaced iacv... STILL GETTING IDLE SURGE PLEASE HELP!!!!
i have a buddy with a gsr.. he's getting an idle surge. surge changes when car is warm (does surge so high), when i start the car it revs up to like 4k and holds there, and then drops down and starts to surge.... i replaced the iacv thinking mine may have gone bad... but im still getting the exact same surge and problems... what else could this possibly be????? any help would be greatly appreciated

check your idle air mixture screw, also check to amke sure your manifold isnt fileld with carbon build up maybe reset the ecu and try cleaning the iacv that you got with brake clean
also make sure there is no air in your coolant. if you just changed something where you opened up the cooling system you might have air in the lines some place.

there is no way the screw can cause that much of a problem
you probably have a vacuum leak. check all your hoses, spray carb cleaner on the throttle body and intake manifold where it meets the block. if the idle changes you have a gasket leak around one of them.

Is the throttle closing all the way. Is the ignition timing correct. Is the check valve in the brake booster vacuum hose facing the right direction? Are all your vacuum hoses connected right? Are your map sensor and TPS plugs mixed up?
its your f.i.t.v, which is your fast idle thermo vlave, it is on the bottom of or throttle body, I had the same problem,

Im having this issue with mine right now.
it idles upwards of 4k and surges but if I cover up the bottom hole in the TB it idles perfect.
anyone know what the next step for me is?

today i swapped the iacv with one on another teg.... still didnt work... could it really be the fitv? any causes easier to check before i do this?!
ok it is your fast idle. take off your throttle body and then take off your fast idle valve off the bottom of your throttle body. there will be a white threaded piece with a metal bulb in the middle. screw that all the way down so the metal bulb is all the way up and no air can pass. blow in one end to make sure it works. re install and enjoy your 800 rpm idle.
You save a hell of alot of time if you dont take off the throttle body. Plus take chance on damaging your gasket. there should just be 3 bolts on the bottom of the ficv. This is on a GSR could be different.
